THE AZTECS
WERE DID THEY LIVE?
The Aztecs lived in Tenochtitlan;Mexico city from 1428 to 1519C.E..They were located there because their legend said that when they found an eagle on a cactus with a snake on its beak that's were they would build their city, and that's were they found it. Before they got there there were 2 groups that were there before them.The first group was Teotihuacan and the second group were the Toltecs The place they lived was 7,000ft above sea level.It was surrounded by many mountains.
WHAT WAS THEIR SOCIAL STRUCTURE?
Their social structure started with a god /ruler as well as the Mayans. Their part of the class was non-hereditary. The god/ruler was picked from a group of advisors. The ruler/god had to be good in wars and had ton get new land. The next class are the govenment officials,novels/prests,and military leaders. Their class was non-hereditary. They were the juges and had 4 sections in the class. The novels/priests were the ones that made the sacrifices. They were also the ones who runned the schools,and priestresses. The 3rd class were the Commoners. Their side was hereditary. The Commoners had 2 classes. The 1st class did all sorts of stuff. For example they traided with other tribes and were also spies. They had their own god and their own living area. The 2nd class of the commoners did other stuff. For example they were fishermen,farmers, arctisans,craftmen,and they payed tribute. The 4th class are the peasants. They were the ones who went to war. They built temples and worked as farmers.The last,but not least were the slaves. They did all sorts of work like the peasants even a little more. They were the people who really worked hard. Aztecs social structure was flexibe witch means they could go up and down the pyramid.
HOW DID THEY AROSE?
They arose by tributing. Tribute is when they went to attack other wealthy trbes and forced them to pay them in order to keep their tribe. Another way that they got victims to sacrifice. They sacrificed to serve their Gods. Their 2 main Gods were the God of Rain, and the God of Sun.
WHAT WERE THEIR ARTISTICS, ORAL TRADITIONS, AND ARCHITECTURE?
Their architecturewas so amazing. They made figures/statues of gods,and important people. Their artistics were beautiful. They made fantastic clothing and carvings. One of their oral traditions was that when you they sacrificed people the had to wear fancy clothing. Another oral tradition was that women got married at age 14,and men got married at age 20.
WHAT WERE THEIR ACHIEVEMENTS IN MATH, ASTRONOMY, AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE CALENDER?
Their achievements in math,and astronamy were like the Mayans. They also used a dot for the 1, and a bar for the 5. In addition, they had a rhombus for the10, and a flag for the 20. They used hands, hearts, and arrow symbols to show fractional distance. That helped them build the sun stone and the calender.
